Do you share interests with your children? One of my son's personal interests is gardening. Neither myself or The Man of the House have a thing for it. Thankfully we have family and friends who have a green thumb so I have unofficially signed them up as gardening mentors for my little guy when they visit, even if it's only a handful of times a year. Both my mum and my Mother In Law will connect with Master 5 through this interest; gardening as a hobby must have skipped a generation! I do joke to my Mum that she should visit more often so there is less chance I'll harm her plantings. I will weed around them, sometimes, but that is about it. In what way do you encourage and nurture your children's natural interests, even if perhaps you don't share them? Below are some pics of our garden as of September 2012. Unfortunately I can't take any credit. Thanks so much for reading. Please drop me a line below in the comments.
I looooooove hearing from you!

Spring in South Australia is well and truly here. And beautifully so. My two plum trees have blossomed and the nectarine tree is beginning to follow suit. Next up will be the apricot tree. Mmm, summer fruit, my favourite. The bulbs are trying to flower but they are sadly reminding me that I have not given them any attention since they were planted. Not by me, I should add. Gardening isn't really my thing. That's why I like the fruit trees. I do nothing and they still love and reward me. We are spending lots of time outside in this glorious weather...walking on the beach, riding the paddle boats on the Torrens, playing at playgrounds, riding on our bike track and 'hunting' wild animals in the overgrown grass of the lawn...and then a nap. Do any other parents have naps? I love them. I need them. I am an introvert, that is to say, someone who gets energy and recharges away from people as opposed to in the company of others. I crash and burn after lunch with the two little ones, even more so if we've left the house! 20 minutes is blissful. When my mind is a bit chattery I choose to meditate instead. On Father's Day I slept for 2 hours...it kinda felt like Mother's Day :-) xxx Welcome Spring. |
